Patricia Nease: The Salmon Apprentice
Patricia Nease, a sophomore at CHS, takes care of the baby salmon living in Courtney Kiley’s room during her 4th block period. Nease hass been able to explore her interest in marine sciences while readying the next generation of fish for their lives in the Great Lakes. First appearing in the classroom in November as unhatched eggs, the fish will be released near Flat Rock, Michigan in late May. From feeding the salmon, to cleaning the tank, to researching their role in the Great Lakes ecosystem, Nease has learned about all facets of this project. With this reseach has come a deeper understanding of our local habitat, but also the importance of preserving all types of eco-systems around the world.
