Huron High School Hosts their annual concerto concert this Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 7:30 pm in Meyers Auditorium. Each year, the Huron Symphony orchestra accompanies concertos for the top soloists who audition. The auditions are only open to seniors and are based on a strict evaluation of articulation, intonation, style and technique, evaluated by all the members in the music department. The auditions took place in early April. The contestants with the highest score get to perform his or her solo at the spring concerto concert with the Huron Symphony orchestra.
This year, the Huron symphony orchestra will be featuring seven soloists:
Akio Kakishima playing Symphonie Espagnole lalo violin concerto
Lauren Peng playing Wieniawksi violin concerto
Jake Johengen playing Sarmientos on marimbas
Douglas Yang playing Sarasate on violin
Kristian Shin playing Barber on violin
Derek Wu playing Liszt on piano
Daniel Lee playing Tchaikovsky on violin.
