Huron Golf Edges out Pioneer for SEC Title

On May 18th, a misty spring day in Michigan, teams from the South Eastern Conference (SEC) arrived at Calderone Golf Club in Grass Lake, Michigan to battle it out for the SEC title.
In the SEC Red division Huron won their second straight SEC title with a four person total of 305 (Alex Wunderlich-71, Rob Aldrich-76, Danny Langa-76, Reid McCallister-82). Pioneer shot a 315 (Davis Argersinger-77, Eric Miller-78, Davis Ransdell-78, Nick Margolis-82) to place second.
Huron also beat Skyline, Bedford, Monroe and Saline high schools, the other teams in the Red division.
Alex Wunderlich shot a 71 to win the individual SEC title.

Huron Golf senior, Alex Wunderlich, was the individual SEC winner with his score of one under par 71. This is his second straight year winning the individual championship and receiving All-SEC honors. Wunderlich will be golfing for Emory University in Georgia.

twice and it’s good for the team winning [the tournament] two years in a row,” Aldrich said. Aldrich will be playing golf for Centre College in Kentucky next year. 

In the White Division of the SEC, Tecumseh beat out Adrian, Chelsea, Dexter, Lincoln, Tecumseh and Ypsilanti for the title with a score of 301. Adrian ended up shooting 318 to come in second.

Next up for these teams will be the MHSAA District tournament held on June 2nd.
