Pistons Come Out Strong

Josh Smith looks to score in his first game as a Piston
On Oct. 30, the Detroit Pistons played game 1 of 82. They played the Washington Wizards who are led by their third year point guard John Wall. Wall scored 20 points but unfortunately they fell short losing by 11 with a final score of 113 to 102. Greg Monroe recorded a double double with 24 points and 16 boards. Josh Smith also had a strong showing in his first game in a Pistons Uniform with 19 points and 5 rebounds. In Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s NBA debut he came off the bench played 27 minutes, scored 9 points, recorded 2 assists, 2 steals, and pulled down 1 rebound.
The game was started on with a 5-0 run for the Wizards with Bradley Beal nailing a quick 15 footer and then Trevor Ariza hitting a quick 3-pointer off a bad Greg Monroe pass. Then the pistons went on a 25-17 run to end the first quarter. The pistons scored 30 in the second to take a 55-43 heading into the locker room. Josh Smith scored 9 of his 19 points in the third to help the Pistons maintain their 8-point lead. The Wizards started on a 3-0 run to start the 4th quarter to cut the lead to 5. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope knocked down a quick 8 foot jumper and the Pistons never looked back after that.
