President Obama has named his nominee to the Supreme Court: Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court of Appeals for D.C., Merrick Garland. Judge Garland is popularly regarded as a moderate, and a choice that the Republicans will have a hard time blocking from a Senate hearing. President Obama will be the first U.S. President to visit Cuba in almost 90 years. According to the White House, his address to ordinary Cubans will be the highlight of his visit. First Lady Michelle Obama, and daughters Malia and Sasha, will travel to Cuba with the the President on Sunday.
Governor Rick Snyder will appear before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee tomorrow, along with EPA administrator Gina McCarthy. The committee is currently holding hearings into the Flint water crisis. Democrats and Republicans on the committee have promised tough questions for the pair.
