What’s next for CET?

Love and Information is over, so what’s next for CET?

CET’s next performance is going to be a musical called “Disaster!” It’s a parody of disaster movies from the 1970s, and all of the songs will be from the ‘70s.  Disaster as created by Seth Rudetsky, and it first saw Broadway in 2011. It’s a PG 13 musical comedy with a fairly small cast.

“It’s a totally ridiculous show,” Quinn Strassel, the director of this show, said.

If you’re interested in being either cast or crew for the show, there will be a mass meeting on Dec. 19. Auditions for the show will be Jan. 8–9. “I’m really excited about auditions,” Strassel said. The show will be presented starting March 14 through the 17th.

Strassel also plans to have master classes and workshops next semester, “So students can have opportunities to learn different skills,” Strassel said. Strassel’s theater production class, which often had CET members join, is coming to an end as the semester wraps up.

Betoul Ajin is going to be assistant stage manager for the show, and is also in Strassel’s production class. In said production class, they are currently watching the film version of Disaster!, and taking notes on the technical aspects, such as lighting, props,  costumes, and set. “We haven’t talked about tech a lot,” Ajin said. What they do know is there will be an upper walkway acting as a second floor, and lots of moving pieces.

Remember, you don’t have to have already been in CET to audition for Disaster!, or be in crew.

“Spread the word!” Strassel said.  “I’m always looking for new people to join.”
