Tiny Lions Cat Cafe: Free to Students This Weekend
The Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) is making it possible for teens to unwind and destress from school by offering free entry to the Tiny Lions Lounge and Cafe (TLC) from Wednesday, December 8th to Sunday, December 12th.
“Cats are therapeutic,” said Karen Patterson, HSHV vice president, in a news release. “Studies show that cats’ purring helps lower our stress and blood pressure and literally help us heal.”
Students can either make reservations between noon and 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, as well as noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, or by making a visit to TinyLions.org and using the code HIGHSCHOOL or by simply showing up and showing your student ID.
“The kittens’ zest for life and ‘in-the-moment’ mentality can help get our mind off [of] things,” said Allison Manz, manager at TLC. “I’ve witnessed it countless times; people come into the café in one mood and leave in a much better one. You can’t help but smile with kittens around.”
While there is no obligation to adopt the kittens, visitors always have that option.
The café is located at 5425 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor.
