Tiny Story: Zane Swerdlow

Tiny Story: Zane Swerdlow

A memory I think about often.

I waited quietly in the crowded parking lot, looking around, surveying the gaggles of longtime friends reunited and ready for another summer together. I was stranded, fully unacquainted, diving head first into six weeks of summer camp with a group of friends to whom I was not yet even known. The call rang out to file onto the bus, a 14 hour ride to rural Canada. It was time to leave behind all comfort zones. I nervously smiled, hugged my parents goodbye, and walked onto the bus. When it came time to pick seats, I didn’t try to be alone.
