Excitement for the upcoming Halloween Dance has been circulating throughout Community High School, and CHS’s Forum Council has made sure the event offers activities for everyone, even for those who don’t usually find themselves on the dance floor. The dance is set to take place Friday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. As of lunch on Thursday, 240 tickets have been sold, and they are going fast, with only 10 left.
Ryan Sylvester, head of Forum Council, loves bringing back the Halloween Dance. Along with dancing in the Craft Theater, he has planned for a photo booth, video games, crafts, movies, doughnuts and cider to all be available. The dance was a Community High tradition for many years before Covid; however, this is only the second year that the dance has returned with such a variety of activities.
“The goal is to make it so, you know, if dancing isn’t your thing, you can come and you can work on some cool crafts,” Sylvester said. “Or you can watch a movie and hang out with your friends and have a good time.”
Students and staff alike are excitedly awaiting the night ahead. Particularly, CHS sophomore Nylee Harmon made sure to snag her ticket early in high anticipation for the dance.
“I’m excited to hang out with all my friends and just dance and have fun,” Harmon said. “I’m going to dress up as an angel. My friend Aiko is going to be a devil.”
Harmon also attended the event the year prior, and she expressed that she wants to go again so as to not miss out on the many activities with her friends.
Walker Ledbetter, a CHS sophomore, has gotten the opportunity to plan and prepare for the event over the last couple of weeks.
“We’ve been putting up signs and stuff,” Ledbetter said. “Just today we actually drew a whole bunch of signs and did some cardboard cutouts, which was fun.”
Similar to Harmon, Ledbetter attended the dance last year. This time around, he plans to go dressed as Andrew Clark from the Breakfast Club and hopes to embody the spirit of the movie on the dance floor.
“I like dancing and all that jazz,” Ledbetter said. “But really, the meat of it, when it comes down to being a teenager, you know, is getting into trouble.”
The upcoming Halloween Dance is a great opportunity for students to connect outside of the classroom and get into the spooky spirit. Whether that looks like dancing, crafting or a little mix of everything, the event promises fun for everyone.
