Community Ensemble Theater’s Moon Over Buffalo, February 4 – 7.

Phil Walker directs Community Ensemble Theater students in a light-hearted theater spoof, Moon Over Buffalo, by Ken Ludwig. George and Charlotte Hay are long-married stage stars in the 1950s, who, after earlier success on Broadway have now been reduced to playing Cyrano de Bergerac Private Lives in second-rate theaters in places like Buffalo.

Lights in the craft theater will soon illuminate CET's production.

George and Charlotte had dreams of Hollywood stardom, but their latest auditions, for The Scarlet Pimpernel, were a failure. Enter their daughter and former ingénue, Roz; her new, weatherman fiancé, Howard; Roz’s former lover, Paul; Roz’s pregnant replacement, Eileen; a call from Frank Capra informing George and Charlotte that they might have a chance at Hollywood fame after all, and complete craziness breaks out. Charlotte and George are both covering up indiscretions, Charlotte’s deaf mother confuses things further, and no one knows just which show will be played for the famous Mr. Capra, if and when he arrives. Slapstick, jealousy, melodrama and general hilarity ensue from the mix-ups, foiled plans and love mismatches. Starring Jon Darga and Megan Shiplett as George and Charlotte Hay, Alice Elliot as Roz, Conor Woodcock as Howard, Josh Mendenhall as Paul and Etsie Arruda as Eileen. Dahlia Bigelow is stage manager, and Konrad Ellinger and Caitlyn Fisher are in charge of lights and costumes.

7:30 p.m. February 4, 5, 6, and 2:00 p.m. on February 7, Community High School, 401 N. Division (parking and the theater entrance are behind the main entrance – on Fifth Avenue, across from Kerrytown). Tickets are $15, ($10 for children, students and Seniors) at the door. Call 662-1693 for more information and ask for Jennifer.
