“A lot of our weekends were spent doing things at the church. On Saturday mornings, we would get our chores done. And then [we’d] get our allowances [and] either go uptown to Kresge’s or Woolworth’s, if you’ve ever heard of those stores and shop. Or, we would catch the bus and go to Arborland to shop. Of course, Arborland doesn’t look like it looks today.”
