Humans of Jones: Georgia Fields
“Every Saturday morning, we went to 200 West Summit, which is where my grandmother Hazel Fields lived. And we spent the day there. We would meet up with other cousins that lived in the area and we would all walk uptown on Main Street. And it was just an awesome experience for us. We had a little — each of us probably had about one dollar. Maybe not even one but we would go up there and go to Woolworth’s and buy hot peanuts. We would go to Kresge’s next door and we would just look around and we didn’t have enough to buy clothes or anything but you might buy little items like bobby pins or Coleman brush sets or something like that.”
