“A memorable moment with food was on my third shift working at Mani. It was my first shift that I was getting paid tips. It was a Thursday night, and it was raining. I was bussing this big circle circular table and there were a lot of glasses. So I was taking the glasses and I couldn’t. I didn’t really have the muscles yet in my wrist and my arm to hold the tray because it weighs a lot more than you think. You’re only allowed to use one hand because it looks classier. I was going up the stairs with a bunch of glasses and I wasn’t looking. My hand wobbled and they all fell right in the dining room. It made such a loud sound. A bunch of people were around, and I was so embarrassed. I didn’t know what to do. It showed me at the end of the night that it’s about the people working in the restaurant, trying to get it all to work. It’s like a really big machine and everyone’s just trying. It was a cool lesson to me because it’s like working with a family at a restaurant and everyone experiences the same hardships.”
