1. Have You Checked Your Facebook Recently?

Hackers stole nearly 2 million usernames and passwords for accounts at Facebook, Google, Twitter, Yahoo and others, according to a report released this week. The hackers who were based in the Netherlands also stole usernames and passwords for foreign social networking sites.

 2. Rude and Crude MSNBC Anchor Martin Bashir Resigns

MSNBC host Martin Bashir said in a statement Wednesday that he would resign from the his job at the network following comments he made about former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. Bashir apologized on-air last month after suggesting that Palin deserved highly graphic punishment for comparing U.S. foreign debt to slavery. Palin later canceled an appearance on NBC’s “Today Show.”

3. Hypnotized Train Engineer

Anthony Bottalico, the union representative of William Rockefeller Jr., said the engineer of the Metro North train that derailed Sunday recognizes his responsibility in the incident. “I think most people are leaning towards human error,” Bottalico said. Rockefeller’s lawyer, Jeffrey Chartier, characterized what happened as “highway hypnosis.” He said his client had had a full night’s sleep before the crash and had no disciplinary record. On Wednesday, Chartier said his client never blamed the accident on faulty brakes, disputing earlier statements attributed to Rockefeller.

4. A Floating City

A floating vessel, that is longer than the Empire State Building is high, was launched early Dec. The hull of Shell’s Prelude was floating in South Korea to test the ships’ buoyancy. When fully built, Prelude will be the largest floating facility ever created, weighing more than 600,000 tons. It would be used to help in the production of natural gas starting in 2017, Shell said, and would operate for 25 years off Australia’s north-west coast.

 5. Obamacare Dissed by the 18-29 Year Old Crowd

While the president is hosting a White House youth summit, a new poll from his alma mater, Harvard University, shows a majority of young people aren’t interested in signing up for his signature health care plan. The Harvard “Millennials” poll found only 22 percent of young Americans – defined in the survey as between 18 and 29 years old – plan to sign up for ObamaCare. Even more troubling for the administration, fewer than a third – only 29 percent – of people who currently do not have health insurance plan to enroll.

6. Oops I Lost My Radioactive Container. Does Anyone See A Container of Radioactive Material

The stolen radioactive material that was reported missing in Mexico early Wednesday has been recovered and there’s no risk to the surrounding population, a Mexican official said. The highly radioactive material was found in an empty lot about a half a mile from Hueypoxtla, an agricultural town of about 4,000 people. According to Juan Eibenschutz, director general of the National Commission of Nuclear Safety and Safeguards, “It poses no threat or a need for an evacuation.”
