As my 4 other teammates and I lined the start line, I looked at my teammate Alex and she whispered, “we got this, here we go.”

The first lap would take care of itself as Coach Serena always said; the second lap would start to establish a pace to maintain; the third lap is where the mental toughness would be the only thing keeping me on pace, most races falling off more than I should have; and adrenaline, competitiveness and pure grit would get me through the 4th lap.

I crossed the line at 5:59:36.
