Angelo’s Closes the Doors

Angelos Closes the Doors

Angelo’s, a popular Ann Arbor restaurant, will be closing later this month. Founded in 1956 by Greek immigrant Angelo Vangelatos and his wife Patricia, the community staple is known for its breakfast and lunch offerings, namely its raisin toast, deep fried french toast and egg breakfasts.

“After 67 years and more than two million loaves of homemade bread, I’ve decided to close Angelo’s and slide into the next stage of my life,” said owner Stave Vangelatos, in a statement on the restaurant’s website.

The property, at the corner of Glen and Catherine, was sold to the University of Michigan for $4.5 million. Angelo’s is open from 7 am to 3 pm daily until December 23.
