Inside the Craft Theater, students gathered in packs, dancing and mingling.

The second floor was decorated with streamers and spooky banners. The entrance to the Craft Theater covered in spider webs. Inside the theater it was pitch black with flashes of bright and colorful lights.

Though this may not be what you typically see everyday at Community High School, it is what the students of all grades saw when they attending this year’s Halloween Dance on Friday, October 28.

The Halloween Dance is an annual fundraiser put together by the DeWoskin forum. Forum members set out to sell tickets and promote the dance each year. This year’s efforts seemed to have payed off.

“It was so much better!” said Murphy Austin when asked to compare this year’s dance to those of the past. Austin, a senior of the DeWoskin forum, summed up the experience by saying, “There were a lot of people, the music was really good, and it was really fun.”

Austin wasn’t the only one with this thought. It seemed to be a widely held opinion among the students that this year’s turn out was much better than previous years.  A count of tickets sold by the DeWoskin forum estimates that about 200 were students present on Friday night, a number far greater then expected.

The tradition of the Halloween Dance will hopefully stay alive. The expectations for next year have certainly risen.
