With only a few more weeks of school left, the obligatory rewind of the year has finally arrived. On Monday during CHS’s lunch period, the Midnight Sun yearbooks were distributed to students and staff.
The CHS Yearbook team has been using their journalism skills, such as writing, interviewing, design and photography all year to create the 2025-2026 edition of the Midnight Sun yearbook. Students gathered around the distribution table on the front lawn of CHS in sunny, 84 degree weather to collect their orange, vibrant yearbooks. Editors happily handed them out because they weren’t just handing out yearbooks, they were handing out a collection of their work from the entire year.
As a senior Yearbook Editor-in-Chief (YEIC), Mallory Towers felt accomplished as she watched students pick up the newest edition of the “Midnight Sun.” She says that working on the same book the entire year can get discouraging and difficult, but the final product is a representation of all of the tough times and happy moments of CHS the entire year and is fully worth the challenging process. She emphasized the fact that creating a yearbook is an impossible task to do alone, and teamwork is a big part of the process.
“I hope that when people look at the yearbook, they take away kind of the theme, you know, our theme was ‘candid,’ and it’s showing all the amazing things that Community students can do and all the stuff that we’ve done,” Towers said. “It’s a reflection of this entire year, little snapshots of moments in time where we were able to do different things, because each one of us is so special.
Students swarmed the front lawn excitedly as they attempted to collect signatures from classmates. The signing party even went into fifth block, many students took time to leave thoughtful notes rather than only a simple signature.
As a junior at CHS, Avery Mayer was excited to see how the new yearbooks documented her second-to-last year at school. She loved that the yearbook was big and well-designed, and that there was a fun-filled space for her and her friends to sign each others’ books.
“I’m somebody that likes to write personalized messages in the yearbook,” Mayer said. “Having that time and a designated place with candy and stuff was really nice.”
Since August of 2025, the theme of this year’s Midnight Sun has been set to one word: candid. The yearbook team asked the question, “how do we capture the accomplishments around CHS?” A quote from a CHS student lies at the bottom left of every page starting with “I can…” and explaining what they have achieved.
Now that the 2025-2026 yearbook has been distributed, Yearbook staff members look ahead to next year’s book by starting to plan out the theme and page designs. They are looking forward to the creation process and the road ahead of them.
