Jordan De Padova’s Free Kick

“I took the shot and I hit the crossbar which was kind of disappointing but it was better than it could have been.”  – Jordan De Padova

In the last 10 minutes of the Pioneer Junior Varsity men’s soccer game against Monroe, Jordan is fouled right outside the 18 yard-line of the box. Jordan takes his first steps to the ball after the referee blew the whistle and was abruptly interrupted by a second whistle. Across the field, the Monroe defender has Pioneer’s forward, William Fichera, in a headlock. No punches were thrown during the fight and it went on for almost a minute before the scuffle was separated. Both of the players were sent off the field with red cards. Jordan has another attempt after the commotion and proceeds to kick. This time Jordan hits the crossbar and the ball goes out of bounds.
