Future Stars Preliminary Shows This Weekend

Future Stars, the annual competitive high school talent show at Pioneer, starts January 7th, at 7pm. This year will be the first that students from all Ann Arbor District high schools are allowed to compete in the show.
Future Stars is a competitive student talent show that works like other talent competition such as “American Idol” or “Dancing with the Stars”. All performers had to tryout for the show, and not everyone is let through. Students perform their talent in a preliminary show. Then, a few talented teenagers advance to the Finals to compete for the title of Future Star 2011.
Tickets are $5.00 for the preliminary show, and $9.00 for the finals (advanced and premium seating tickets are available for a higher price).

There are four nights of Future Stars Preliminary shows, all with different themes.

  • Friday, January 7th, 7 pm, “Chart-Toppers”
  • Friday, January 7th, 9:30 pm, “Lights Out” (students only)
  • Saturday, January 8th, 7 pm, “GLEE-ful”
  • Saturday, January 8th, 9:30 pm, “Grammy 09/10” (students only)

John Spalding, who sang “Dance with my Father”, and Ryan Yunck, who sang “Piano Man”, shared the title of Future Star 2010 last year. Some people hope this year the judges will make a single decision on one performer, rather than have dual winners like last year.
