Last week, hundreds of Community High students filed into St.Andrews church to present the money that they had collected for Food Gatherers. This was Community High School’s second year donating to the Food Gatherers program. The assembly began with a contribution made by Dean Jen for two-hundred and fifty dollars and was proceeded by students bringing up their forum’s donations and announcing what they had done to raise the money. The forum who collected the most money was the Rosewarne forum, with a little over nine hundred dollars, by selling baked goods, BLTs, and asking for money from friends and family.

By the end of the assembly, $4,469 was calculated as the school-wide Food Gatherers donation. Food Gatherers representative Kate announced that with every dollar donated, three meals could be provided for people in need. Therefore, Community High School had provided 14,309 meals. The representatives ended the assembly by thanking Community High and saying that for anyone who wished to get involved, potential volunteers should visit the food gatherer’s website and sign up for their mailing list, as volunteers were needed at the warehouse, the kitchen, and at special events.
