“I worked at the Humane Society for a while. You [would] go into the dog section of the Humane Society and you would get to give them treats and give them walks, let them play with you, [and] let them cuddle you for an hour at a time. I did it freshman and sophomore year. [When] I was in 6th grade, we decided to foster dogs, and we fell in love with Dexter and we decided to keep him. At first I wasn’t that excited about a dog [but] now I’m ecstatic about my dog. And I love him. He’s a black lab great dane mix. He’s seven years old. I brought him to the first day of school. Because my dad lives not far away and so I took him for a walk during lunch. He’s a big boy. He’s not a very active dog so you can’t really play with him very much because he’s really lazy.”
