On Sept. 6, Community Ensemble Theatre held its first Mass Meeting for its fall play, Museum.

CET Director, Emily Wilson-Tobin, started off by introducing Sarah Hechler (Tech Director); Michael Strugala (member of the sets crew) and the 2023-24 CET Student Board, consisting of Ebie Lamb (President), Hannah Rubenstein (Vice President), Mallory Towers (Secretary), Parker Haymart (Merchandise Manager), Ionie Steudle (Publicity Secretary) and Paige Plavnick (Underclassmen Representative).

Wilson-Tobin went on to talk about how to join the cast or crew for the Museum. All participants are required to fill out the CET General Registration form with a parent or guardian. Students interested in cast can access this folder to sign up for an audition slot, complete the audition form and learn about the commitment. All actors need to come prepared for auditions with one selected side or monologue. Students can audition alone or with a friend. Everyone who auditions is guaranteed a role — there are no cuts. For students interested in participating in tech, open this folder to fill out the CET Museum Crew form and learn about the commitment.

“I want people to know that it’s okay to come out and give anything a try for the first time,” Wilson-Tobin said. “We aim to be accessible for lots of different people,” Wilson-Tobin said.

After the meeting, past crew leadership showed off their favorite crews to convince newcomers to join.

“I can’t wait to work together with so many close friends,” said returning CET crew member, Allan Authier, “Last year was so much fun, and being a part of CET is an amazing experience. I love the people I get to work with and CET really helped me to grow as a person; I hope to continue to have great experiences as well as learn.”

Museum, by Tina Howe, is made up of vignettes about incidents that take place on the last day of an art exhibit. There are 40 roles in the cast, so actors will likely play two characters.

Auditions will take place on Sept. 12 and 14, at 3:45 p.m. in the Craft Theater, with callbacks on Sept. 15, at 3:45 p.m. in the Craft Theater. Crew forms are due by 10 p.m. on Sept. 10. The General Registration form and audition form are due by Sept. 12, at 2 p.m.
